ll cuore grande delle ragazze è l’ultima opera di Pupi Avati. Un film dolce, adatto a coloro che hanno cuore e valori, ma soprattutto sentimento. Che hanno ancora un legame con i nonni che lavoravano la terra, con le ritualità antiche, con la nostra tradizione. Un film semplice che tocca le corde più profonde della nostra anima e ti commuove, rendendoti felice e poi ti fa sorridere. E’ il divenire che scorre e si tramanda, ma quel che è più importante è la vita vera, non irreale e ideale, sognata e raramente raggiunta. Le femministe hanno criticato questo film con affermazioni di questo genere “Il regista emiliano ci racconta lo zelo antifemminista della dittatura fascista, che relegava la donna al focolare domestico, esaltava la maternità a sostegno della forza dello Stato nazionale e inibiva l’affermazione degli interessi individuali… Un’esaltazione ottusa della diversità naturale tra uomini e donne a evidente vantaggio dei primi, ancora e sempre meschini, detestabili, ninfomani, fanatici della sottana. Le donne dominanti sul fronte opposto del racconto e di quella porzione di Storia italiana sono mamme in cucina e zitelle in attesa, ragazze da sposare e puttane da comprare (e poi naturalmente disprezzare)”.

Se guardiamo la pellicola con il metro deformante della razionalità, delle donne che aspirano alla parificazione con l’uomo in tutto, hanno ragione le femministe. Lo squilibrio tra l’uomo e la donna al tempo era esagerato e insopportabile. Ma se guardiamo il film con il cuore, con l’amore, con la percezione sensoriale tipica della donna arcaica, si comprende in profondità quel che Avati vuole raccontare.

Personalmente ho visto il grande schermo, con gli occhi di una bambina che ascolta una favola, sedendo sulle gambe di suo nonno e credo di aver compreso questa storia nella sua essenza più profonda. Avati, non difende affatto il maschio, che anzi mostra al pubblico come egoista, inaffidabile e puttaniere, anche se estre-
mamente generoso, lavoratore e comunque legato ad un solo amore per sempre. Quel che Avati vuole raccontare sono le donne dal cuore grande, piene di sogni d’amore, puntualmente ferite da questi uomini eternamente piccoli, malati di sesso, unico svago ad una vita piena di sacrifici e sofferenza. Si vuol evidenziare come le donne non sono come gli uomini, poiché la donna che tradisce, non è la stessa cosa dell’uomo che tradisce. C’è l’esaltazione di queste donne arcaiche, naturali, madri, amanti, sorelle, che danno il senso di continuità alla famiglia poiché ne costituiscono il perno. Non dimentichiamo che la Madre primordiale autogenerata, fu madre e compagna del proprio figlio. Non dimentichiamo la figura della “sdora” emiliana-romagnola, intorno alla quale ruotava tutta la famiglia e al quale l’uomo doveva sottostare. Donne talmente grandi che sopportavano le debolezze dei propri mariti bambini, che facevano soffrire, è vero, ma quali aspettative riporre negli esseri infantili?

Cosa rappresenta per lei realizzare un film?

Ogni film è come un bambino, un figlio. Lo è in tutti i sensi. C’è un investimento di almeno di un anno per la sua nascita. E più passa il tempo più conta. La vita di un uomo di 73 anni è un tempo infinito, per una persona di venti è niente. Quindi io ho regalato, ho investito su questo film, un anno intero della mia vita, su un’aspettativa di vita che spera di campare 118 anni, quindi vorrei che venisse apprezzato questo fatto. E un anno intero della mia vita l’ho dedicata ad una storia inventata a Fermo e dintorni, ed è una storia che mescola due anime, il sorriso, la luce, qualche risata, non disdegnando qualche opportunità per la comicità più crassa e qualche commozione. Al festival di Roma ha avuto un’accoglienza strepitosa, io erano anni che non vivevo col pubblico una relazione continua, di risate e di tensione continua, la gente piangeva, una
cosa meravigliosa per un film che non è commovente, anzi, fa ridere, quindi avevamo ottenuto una sorta di reazione, una perforazione che arrivava al loro cuore e questo è un risultato di cui dobbiamo andare fieri insieme al mio fratello Antonio, insieme alla complicità dei marchigiani che sono stati straordinari. Io mi auguro che questo nostro film che abbiamo fatto assieme, perché Il cuore grande delle ragazze è un film di Pupi, Antonio e le Marche, e spero che ottenga quel consenso di pubblico al quale alludevamo, perché un film senza pubblico non esiste.

Prima della proiezione in sala ha affermato che questo film è stato una specie di parto per Lei.

Tutti i film sono investimento emotivo, fisico economico, ti portano via un anno della tua vita…

Maestro Avati, alla fine del film io e la mia vicina ci siamo guardate e con gli occhi ci siamo dette, anche io sono stata tradita. Tutte le donne sono oggetto di tradimenti da parte di questi uomini che si divertono un sacco a volare di fiore in fiore. Lei ha colto perfettamente lo stato psichico femminile in questo film.

Si è la storia di mia nonna. Perché mia nonna aveva questo cuore grande e questa capacità di sopportare questo disgraziato, che però dopo è stato suo marito, quindi poi le cose sono migliorate, però i maschi allora erano veramente delle persone totalmente inaffidabili, avevano il diritto di preda senza nessun tipo di inibizione, perché non lo consideravano disdicevole, anzi, il maschio aveva questo ruolo e doveva esercitarlo continuamente in qualunque contesto. Le donne avevano questo ruolo che era di continuità, mentre l’uomo poteva per-
mettersi lavorando tanto, faticando tanto, queste distrazioni che non considerava gravi, perché poi non c’erano implicazioni sentimentali, l’adulterio era solo finalizzato al sesso. La regola è che si ritorna sempre a casa, si rispetta la moglie, però nel momento in cui la moglie dovesse esercitare a sua volta, una sorta di vendetta, non la si perdona. L’adulterio della donna non è perdonato. L’adulterio dell’uomo è tollerato, perché sono considerate sempre delle scappatelle perché sempre finalizzato al rapporto sessuale, cioè dall’attrattiva iniziale e dalla soddisfazione finale, poi si conclude. Mio nonno non è che distinguesse belle o brutte, le soddisfaceva tutte, un po’ come i galletti, faceva parte del loro ruolo, quello di far vedere che erano grandi amatori, e di averne il più possibile. Era l’unica distrazione che aveva un uomo. Non aveva nient’altro.

Perché dopo tanti anni parlare del cuore grande di sua nonna?

Perché ho visto che adesso, le donne continuano ad avere il cuore grande, ma giustamente non lo rendono più disponibile, le donne, hanno ottenuto la situazione che se io ti faccio uno sgarbo, lo ricevo.

L’importanza della tradizione nella sua vita e quanto potrebbe salvarci in questo particolare periodo storico

La tradizione è fondamentale nell’oggi. Per esempio il film comincia dicendo “che tutti. I ricordi sono nei cimiteri” e allora per poter considerare che cos’è il nostro presente, dobbiamo sapere cos’è stato il nostro passato se no, non abbiamo l’unità di misura. Oggi dobbiamo ricordarci quel che eravamo, perché altrimenti il presente, offre tante opportunità che noi non abbiamo avuto, ma nessuno le sa apprezzare, nessuno le evidenzia, tutti si lamentano solo.

E quindi come dice lei, un ritorno all’amore?

Un ritorno all’amore e alla luce.
