GABRIELE D’ANNUNZIO: Intervista a Giordano Bruno Guerri Presidente del Vittoriale

La via dell’arte è lunga e scabra ed erta: per salirla ci vogliono dei lombi armati di valore. Tu hai un’intelligenza fine e una cultura non comune; ti manca lo spirito irrequieto delle imprese. Costì […] in codesta baraonda vivente, tramezzo ai coetanei, alli emuli, alli invidi, fatti largo, per dio! Tu hai diritto di farti largo in faccia al gran sole: conquistalo […].

Non ti spaventare della lotta: è la lotta per la vita: the struggle for life del Darwin, la lotta inevitabile e inesorabile. Guai a chi si abbatte. Guai alli umili! Non ti scandalizzare di queste massime poco cristiane. Dà retta a me, a me che ti sono amico sincero e che ho molta esperienza dall’essere vissuto in mezzo alla gente combattendo a furia di gomitate e facendomi largofuriosamente”. Questi consigli da vero guerriero non è un anziano a scriverli, ma un giovane di ventun anni, già noto nel mondo letterario italiano… Gabriele D’Annunzio”. Eppure la cultura del secondo dopoguerra ha cercato in tutti i modi di sbarazzarsi di quell’uomo che marchiò il proprio tempo e influenzò il futuro, alternando l’indifferenza alla condanna, totale e preventiva. D’Annunzio, ha scritto Alberto Arbasino, è il «Cadavere in Cantina fra i più ingombranti di tutte le letterature, di tutti i paesi, vilipeso, conculcato, negletto». Mentre Carducci, Pascoli, Verga sono già collocati storicamente, D’Annunzio, – oggi così apparentemente assente, sta ancora dentro la crisi italiana; o, se si vuole, la contemporanea crisi italiana è ancora troppo ricca di umori sofferti da D’Annunzio, per poter smaltire D’Annunzio – (Mario Sansone). La diffidenza ideologica verso l’interprete del superomismo, l’irritazione per il personaggio e per ciò che ha rappresentato si sono unite ai pregiudizi di una critica letteraria che, fingendo di colpire lo scrittore e il poeta, si scagliava contro il    nazionalista, l’antidemocratico, il guerrafondaio, il decadente, trascurando del tutto il libertario e l’uomo libero da ogni schema politico”. Autore di queste appassionate parole è Giordano Bruno Guerri, scritte nel libro in onore del Vate, intitolato “l’Amante guerriero”. Presidente del Vittoriale da due anni e mezzo, il tre Luglio ha inaugurato
presso il Vittoriale degli Italiani a Riviera sul Garda, la nuova mostra permanente intitolata “D’Annunzio Eroe”. In occasione della manifestazione tenuta a Civitanova Marche dal titolo “Popsophia”, nell’ambito della quale è stata esposta una parte della penultima mostra inaugurata dal Presidente “D’Annunzio segreto”, ho avuto il piacere d’intervistare Giordano Bruno Guerri e di rinverdire attraverso le sue parole, una mia passione giovanile, sopita, mai spenta: Gabriele D’Annunzio. Grazie.

Cosa rappresenta D’Annunzio per Giordano Bruno Guerri

D’Annunzio per me è quel che dovrebbe rappresentare per tutti: un italiano che è stato malgiudicato per motivi politici, e quindi è stato bollato come decadente, come uomo dedito solo a fare debiti e fare sesso e poi con vizi vari ed infine Giovanni Battista del fascismo. In realtà D’Annunzio, fu tutto l’opposto. Fu un modernizzatore, in ogni campo di ogni attività, nella poesia, nella letteratura, in politica. Fu un anticipatore, un modernizzatore, sempre ai massimi livelli, quindi un personaggio che va completamente ripensato e rivisto. Operazione che ho cominciato con il libro L’Amante Guerriero …Al quale mi sono dedicato per molti anni e che sto procedendo come Presidente del Vittoriale e come direttore del D’Annunzio festival a Pescara.

Ha organizzato una mostra al Vittoriale su D’Annunzio Eroe, perché D’Annunzio e perché in questo momento?

Perché D’Annunzio è un personaggio esemplare e simbolico dell’Italia, che è un paese con una grande tradizione culturale che dovrebbe vivere di cultura, e al quale lui ha dato moltissimo. Lui ha rinnovato la letteratura italiana, non lo dico io ma lo dissero a suo tempo Joice, Proust, e altri scrittori pensatori europei. Perché in questo momento? Perché

 

ci sono io al Vittoriale, è il mio lavoro e lo faccio con grande passione. Essere Presidente al Vittoriale, il dodicesimo, e tutti si definiscono ironicamente vedove di D’Annunzio, significa, come le vedove, essere incaricati di conservare le memorie, i beni etc., Io preferisco definirmi amante, perché lui trattava meglio le amanti della moglie.

Ma le trattava davvero bene le sue amanti D’Annunzio?

Beh, lui adorava le donne, proprio come genere umano come tipologia umana, non solo per motivi sessuali. Lui era amico solo di donne. Trattarle bene, è una cosa un po’ difficile da dire nel senso che lui le faceva innamorare tutte perché riusciva a farle sentire uniche al mondo, che in fondo è tutto ciò che desideriamo, anche gli uomini, preziosi, indispensabili, si dedicava con sforzi, energia, passionalità, anche sforzo intellettuale, poi certo le ‘mollava’ e quindi le faceva soffrire. Ma che poteva fare altro? O dedicarsi ad una sola, una cosa impossibile nel suo caso, o farle soffrire.

Ci può parlare in maniera più dettagliata della mostra su D’Annunzio Eroe?

Si. Posso prenderla alla larga? Io ho aperto tre nuovi musei al Vittoriale, il primo si chiama Omaggio a D’Annunzio ed è la raccolta di opere di artisti contemporanei. Ho pensato che D’Annunzio amava gli artisti suoi contemporanei e quindi avrebbe amato anche i nostri e ho chiesto: riconoscete D’Annunzio padre del culto della bellezza, dell’arte italiana? E la risposta è stata si, per cui ci hanno riempito di doni, abbiamo per esempio nell’anfiteatro il cavallo di Mimmo Paladino, cavallo blu, stupendo alto quattro metri, del valore di 350 mila euro, poi ci sono due statue di Ugo Riva, e poi c’è una statua di San Sebastiano di Ettore Greco, fuori, e nell’Auditorium ci sono 50 pezzi di artisti per cui Schmidlin, Pontani, Cannavacciuolo etc. Per cui, un museo gratuito molto bello, che si arricchisce continuamente, perché altri artisti, vogliono essere al Vittoriale. Adesso riceveremo prestissimo un’opera di Arnaldo Pomodoro. Poi altro Museo è il D’Annunzio Segreto cui si ispira questa mostra che abbiamo creato qui a Civitanova Marche, nell’ambito di Popsophia, cioè io ho pensato che D’Annunzio, ci ha lasciato il Vittoriale, non solo perché voleva che venisse conservato così com’è, ma anche perché voleva essere ricordato, non soltanto per le sue poesie e le sue opere, le sue imprese, ma anche per la sua vita quotidiana, cioè vole-
va continuare a sedurre e affascinare, fisicamente anche dopo la morte. Anche perché tutto il Vittoriale, è così com’è, cioè quando morì al tavolo di lavoro, che gli caddero gli occhiali, è rimasto tutto così come è oggi. E i visitatori chiedevano cosa c’è in quell’armadio, in quel cassetto? Io ho fatto una semplice operazione, ho svuotato armadi e cassetti e ho creato questa mostra.

Non è stato depauperato niente nel frattempo?

Beh, ho ritrovato settecento pagine autografe, documenti non fotografati, in Svizzera. Si credeva fossero perduti per sempre, e questa è una delle cose di cui vado più fiero, perché fu un’operazione da Sherlock Holmes: andai dai collezionisti, perché c’era il marchio a fuoco del Vittoriale, a secco, li guardai negli occhi, uno ad uno chiedendo se li aveva lui, finchè alla fine uno di loro cedette e disse di averli, presi per salvarli, e così ora sono di nuovo al Vittoriale. Comunque in generale, tutto è rimasto così com’era al tempo di D’Annunzio. Per cui sotto l’Anfiteatro c’è la mostra D’Annunzio segreto dove abbiamo esposto una sintesi del D’Annunzio intimo, cioè le sue scarpe oltre trecento, tutte fatte a mano dai migliori artigiani, i suoi abiti, raffinatissimi, la sua biancheria, tutta elegantissima, persino le vestaglie, che lui disegnava personalmente per le sue donne, poi la sua famosa vestaglia col buco, orlato d’oro, perché negli ultimi anni D’Annunzio, si vergognava del suo corpo, ma un amante ancora vivo, e questo è esposto insieme alle stoviglie, oggetti personali.. .D’Annunzio è stato un uomo che è riuscito non solo a realizzare tutti i propri sogni, ma anche a farli sognare agli altri uomini. Il terzo museo, inaugurato il tre luglio, consiste in una donazione di 74 oggetti regalati da D’Annunzio a qualcuno. Un collezionista, molto generoso, ambasciatore Antonio Spada, li ha donati al Vittoriale. E si tratta di oggetti meravigliosi che non erano mai stati visti, poiché Lui aveva estrema cura per le cose che regalava a se stesso, ma ancora di più per tutto ciò che donava alle sue donne e amici. Il suo motto che sta all’ingresso del Vittoriale è “Io ho quel che ho donato”, per cui tutto andava di conseguenza, cioè gioielli straordinari, spade intarsiate d’oro, cesellate, bandiere, e poi documenti importanti, c’è l’originale del testo della beffa di Buccari, l’originale di 60 pagine della Notte di Caprera.

Che rapporto aveva D’Annunzio con Garibaldi?
Si, scrisse quest’ode a Garibaldi, simile a Lui per amore di azione, ma Garibaldi era un illetterato, D’Annunzio fu un principe rinascimentale.

.E dicevo che questi 74 oggetti hanno permesso di aprire questo museo nell’ambito del museo della guerra, presso lo Schifamondo, che in realtà non è proprio della guerra perchè c’è la bacchetta che usò Toscanini per un concerto a Fiume, la maschera di Wuilt. Alla fine trasformato questo museo e l’ho chiamato D’Annunzio Eroe che mi sembra più corrispondente, anche perché al museo della guerra nessuno aveva la voglia di andarci, adesso invece è frequentatissimo. Abbiamo un movimento di visite vertiginosi. Quando sono arrivato il Vittoriale, perdeva 10 mila visitatori l’anno, adesso con questa azione di rinnovazione, di azione di marketing continua, di comunicazione, il Vittoriale ha invertito la tendenza. Vedo studenti che entrano con la faccia da deportati ed escono con gli occhi scintillanti per quello che hanno visto, e siamo molto contenti.

In questo periodo storico drammatico per l’Italia, attaccata dal punto di vista finanziario e politico, come reagirebbe D’Annunzio?

Difficile rispondere, ma il suo amor di patria, lo porterebbe a difenderla, l’ha sempre difesa per tutta la vita, non solo in guerra. Se penso, per esempio, che D’Annunzio, è stato l’inventore dell’espressione “beni culturali”, fra le tante cose che ha inventato, per cui certamente interverrebbe per la difesa dell’Italia, sia dall’interno che all’estero.

Infine una domanda e una curiosità, come mai i suoi genitori lo hanno chiamato Giordano Bruno? Per puro caso, i miei nonni si chiamavano uno Giordano, l’altro Bruno. I miei genitori erano persone molto semplici, e mi hanno battezzato Giordano Bruno senza sapere quel che mi facevano e io sono grato al caso perché è storia. Dopo di che, i miei mi hanno battezzato come si usava; il prete fece un salto indietro quando seppe il nome scelto.
